Today we continue the process of small outlay, large reward. Or as I like to call it , Small 2great. Plant a tiny seed and watch a sequoia tree grow right under your nose. Place a rotten apple in a container of apples and you get another great result. Never mind that the apples are now un-eatable, something small created something great.
If you can fathom the potential of this kind of thinking it can alter the way you live your life. Look for opportunities where outlay is minimal and out- put is large. A fire bug takes a tiny match and sets a forest on fire, an assassin shoots a crown prince and starts a world war. Not that I’m suggesting you do either, but rather small2great works both ways, sometimes for good often for bad.
Every time a new year turns over we tell ourselves things will be better this year. Yet nothing will change if everybody keeps doing what they did last year. Most peoples lives revolve around the opposite of what I’m introducing to you, in that the effort we exert results in minimal output. In other words great2small.
The only way to alter this mentality is to focus on incremental changes that have the potential for great results. Buying a lotto ticket is not what I’m talking about. Why? Because gambling more often than not becomes an addiction that has greater potential to ruin your life than to improve it.
Seek activities that focus on minimal input and greater reward. If you’re looking to lose weight the idea would be to concentrate on incremental dietary changes rather than joining up with the local boot camp team. Life doesn’t always have to be about ‘no pain –go gain’, but rather about subtle alterations that are capable of major results.
There are people who can make a shrub flourish through some simple non consuming technique that others don’t want to know about. Maybe because even when told about it they think it’s illogical and won’t work. You see a restaurant can reap monumental improvement by simply altering the way they prepare a certain dish.
If you stop and really think about this subject and focus on Small2 great a whole avenue of ideas will come flowing to you in most areas of life. Most of us are inclined to put in far to much effort for very little gain.
Try and turn this thing around and keep thinking sequoia tree. Write down a whole list of small non risk challenges. Experiment and keep monitoring the results. If those incremental adjustments are not producing greater results than your initial input, stop and try another challenge. The trick is, not to return to your old status quo. With small2great the output must be much larger than the input.
If you’re a man who has a wife, to practice this theory you must be continually on the lookout for those small things that you do that will gain you the most favour. If that means working in the garden all day or continually doing big jobs in order to keep her happy, I’m not suggesting that you need a new wife , but you most certainly need a new tactic.
The more you practice this kind of thinking the more time you will have (less input) and more people will probably like you (greater output).
This little theory like every little sequoia seed will work for those who are prepared to put in a little effort for a bigger result. The secret is focus and a lot of practice.
Sometimes stuff happens that isn’t nice such as a lot of rain that floods a whole state.
When it happens they often refer to it as the event. Who can capture such disasters better than a poet. Thus a poem for your perusal : the event
please enjoy
Good bye and good night
